It
all started with Christmas cards. I was a graphic
design student and I wanted to give family and friends a gift
but I didn’t have the money. My professor at the University
of Cincinnati had just showed us his collection of Christmas
cards he designs every year. I found it inspiring to see this
unique portfolio of how this simple thing changes from year
to year, how we grow as designers and how your life directs
each design. I bought some beautiful decorative paper, some
string and started creating. I wound up with about 30 uniquely
different, gorgeous, string angel cards. I’m still kicking
myself for not photographing them all! I mailed them out and
what a response I received. Phone calls, notes, emails of people
telling me how much they loved the card! From then on it was
my thing, every year, a new and unique card. Soon I stopped
buying cards for any occasion all together. I had to make each
one.
Then
school was over and all my friends were getting married. It
seemed every six moths another invitation in the mail. Before
long, it was my wedding. I wanted to make my invitation special.
I had so many ideas. After about 5 designs I finally picked
one. While I was working on these, a friend called and asked
me to design her invitations as well, her wedding was only a
week before mine. A couple months later, I created my sister-in-laws
wedding stationery. And
soon after, I started Perfect Paperworks. |
